Do you have any problem on the way of your profession? How did you solve it?
I believe the art community in general suffers from self-doubt and I am certainly no exception. I am always plagued with that little voice in the back of my head telling me that I’m not good enough. Strangely, that fear is also a motivator for me… Quitting would prove that little voice right. But if I can push through it and create something better than the day before then perhaps, I can do the same tomorrow and the day after that and so on. But it never goes away and I hope I continue to prove that little voice wrong.
In modern society, lots of people want to be famous, influential. How do you think about it?
That’s probably half of the problem with modern society. Everyone wants to be famous but not many are doing anything worthy of that attention. No one wants to work to achieve something notable. The current recipe for fame is to start a social media account, do something extravagant, get noticed, milk it into a career opportunity. How many famous people can you name that create something that improves the world around them? No, I don’t want to be famous under those circumstances, I just want to do something worthy of being remember for.
What will be the suggestions to new photographers?
Focus more on exploring your creative desires then the technical aspects of your equipment. The technical side of photography is rather easy and will become second nature as you gain experience. However, the ability to create an image that speaks to people is what the soul of photography really is all about. No one cares what size brush was used to create the Mona Lisa, do they?
To become famous, what kind of qualities do you think the person should have?
For me, in order to be worthy of fame and notoriety that person needs to have a positive impact on the world around them, they inspire others to greatness. Without those qualities, you are just infamous in my book.
How do you prepare your new shoot?
My Stylist and I usually start bouncing around concepts and ideas weeks or months in advance. We flush out the ideas that we feel the most passion for and then focus on building the details around it. We usually have everything worked out well in advance of the session, so that the day of the shoot, it is just executing our plan. The more you prepare in advance, the more time and energy you have to focus on creating the best possible image during the shoot.
