INTERVIEW: Performance Art, Contemporary concept.

YeYi, a performance art student who is studying in a fine art academy in Paris. He tries to convey his thoughts via creating art works and communicate with audiences though his diverse, and distinctive ideas.

The first time I saw him, he was a little bit shy, not very talkative. Thin body with dark and well-designed clothes and short hair are his classic image. When he fully adapted to the rhythm of our interviews, he slowly began to open his heart. Then we talked about art, and his thought of art for a long time. He actually has lots of interesting concepts about films and artists,. Among his talent, we see there is a excellent future waiting for him. We believe in one day, he will achieve his goal, and then become a famous artist.

What makes you choose this profession?

At the beginning my major was a screenwriter, which is a profession contacts with the creation of contemporary drama. Unlike what I know about the previous dialogue drama, especially in the process of contact, I saw its breakthrough in narrative. From the perspective view of stage design, drama belongs to a creation of three-dimensional space since the content of the two-dimensional film is combined with stage design, showing a three-dimensional, space-oriented and more powerful work. I saw more possibilities in these, and also learned about installation art, modern dance and performance art through drama. So later, in order to seek more expressions on the road of art, I resolutely chose to study art.

Could you share how do you expand your vision of art, fashion ?

I think my visual aspects mainly come from some daily necessities, in addition, I am very sensitive to small things and always capable to get inspirations on this. On the other hand, specifically speaking, I obtain some basic understanding of the world view from it. Sometimes I feel our society is moving too far, and always keep changing. Maybe when I take a step back, I would see something different.

In your daily routine, what kind of resource you like to learn new things about art, fashion?

I think some inspiration or concept, or the knowledge of contemporary art are not systematically sorted out like the previous modern art, so it is not particularly convenient to find and learn them. Generally speaking, these ways will be some exhibitions. Some art galleries, galleries have websites, and book fairs are also a good choice.

Is art, fashion important in your life? Why?

I think art is still very important to me. Because of its existence, I can do something without compromise, keep let me constantly understand myself and do things that I would not have done before. Learning art for me is also an exploration of myself and also makes me a better person.

How do you think about your work? Is it what you like, or simply saying a dream?

In fact, I feel this is a combination of painful and happy . May be because of my personal reasons - I belong to people who want to think clearly before they can work. A period of self-doubt, self-entanglement, and the day before I think I may be refuted the next day. But once I want to be clear, I am particularly motivated in the production and display. I like this dynamic feeling.
