A Force of Beauty Education: The Lipstick Lesbians, Alexis and Christina

The world of beauty is often filled with glitz, glamour, and endless product launches, but over the past two years, Alexis Androulakis and Dr. Christina Basias Androulakis, affectionately known as The Lipstick Lesbians, have added something new to the mix: expert knowledge. Their mission is simple yet groundbreaking—to transform beauty consumers into informed experts, sparking curiosity and confidence with every video they create. With their combined expertise, these trailblazers have become a powerful duo, leading a quiet revolution in beauty education.

Beginnings of a Beauty Revolution

Alexis and Christina’s journey started with one question: Where are beauty products made? In late 2022, the couple posted a playful TikTok video attempting to guess the country of origin of a Makeup by Mario newly launched foundation based on its texture, packaging, and innovation. To their surprise, the video went viral, amassing millions of views. Their viewers weren’t just entertained—they were inspired.

“This curiosity about the origin of beauty products wasn’t new to us,” Alexis recalls. “But the response showed us how much people wanted to understand the why behind their favorite products.”

For Alexis, a beauty industry veteran with nearly two decades of experience across makeup artistry, fragrance houses, legacy brands, and celebrity product consulting, the viral moment was a natural evolution of her career. For Christina, a Ph.D. in Education and Technology who had spent years shaping minds in NYC’s largest school district, it was an opportunity to merge her love for learning with a new, unexpected field. Together, they realized the potential to bring beauty literacy to the forefront of the industry.

The Perfect Blend of Expertise

What sets Alexis and Christina apart is the seamless integration of their skills. Alexis brings deep technical knowledge of beauty product development, peeling back the curtain on the artistry and science that go into creating lipsticks, mascaras, and all color and skincare products, sometimes even haircare. She demystifies ingredients, formulation techniques, and even the manufacturing processes that define global beauty standards and markets.

Christina complements this with her gift for education, transforming complex topics into digestible, engaging lessons. “People think of beauty as superficial, but there’s so much learning to be had,” Christina explains. “It’s like peeling back layers of history, chemistry, and design all at once.”

Their partnership (in business and life) quickly caught the attention of beauty enthusiasts, makeup artists, and even industry executives. Suddenly, The Lipstick Lesbians weren’t just influencers—they were educators carving out a new niche across all social platforms.

A New Era of Beauty Content

Within their first two years, Alexis and Christina established themselves as leaders in beauty education, racking up accolades and reshaping the influencer landscape. Their TikTok audience soared to nearly a million followers, while their Instagram reached 412K+, and their YouTube channel attracted 178K+ subscribers.

Their most impactful content has blended entertainment with valuable insights. From their viral video on tubing mascaras, which garnered over 9 million views and sparked a global craze, to their detailed breakdowns of K-beauty trends and baked powders, the duo has consistently offered their audience both knowledge and empowerment.

Their mantra? “Elevating beauty literacy.”

As Alexis puts it, “We want our community to walk into a beauty store with an elevated confidence as close as possible to that of a makeup artist or product developer. No more falling for empty marketing claims—they should know what they’re buying and why.”

Recognition and Impact

In 2023, the duo was recognized by Traackr as one of the top 25 beauty creators, cementing their role as trusted voices in the industry. This recognition wasn’t just about numbers; it was about influence.

Beauty brands began to take notice. CEOs, product developers, and marketers sought their insights, realizing that educated consumers demanded more transparency. Brands started incorporating The Lipstick Lesbians' educational approach into their campaigns, proving that Alexis and Christina weren’t just creating content—they were shaping the future of beauty.

Expanding the Mission

In 2025, Alexis and Christina are launching their first masterclass, Let’s Learn About Beauty, LLAB for short, a comprehensive dive into product development across all categories. The course brings their expertise directly to their audience, bridging the gap between beauty enthusiasts and industry insiders.

“This masterclass is more than just a course—it’s a movement,” Christina says. “We’re teaching people how to think critically about the products they use, to ask better questions, and to demand more from the industry.”

Their innovation didn’t stop there. The couple also consulted for brands navigating complex conversations about sustainability, inclusivity, and ingredient safety. They helped refine messaging and product offerings, ensuring authenticity and transparency were at the forefront.

Building a Legacy

Despite their rapid rise, Alexis and Christina are just getting started. Their vision extends beyond social media. “Our ultimate goal is to create a world where elevated beauty education is the norm, not the exception,” Alexis explains.

This includes expanding their educational initiatives while developing a new business model rooted in innovation, transparency and performance, while fostering partnerships that align with their mission. For them, the accolades and recognition are not the endgame—they are stepping stones toward systemic change.

“Our work isn’t just about beauty products,” Christina adds. “It’s about empowering people to make choices that reflect their values and needs. That’s the real beauty revolution.”

The Road Ahead

As they look to the future, Alexis and Christina remain committed to their community. They see their platform not just as a business, but as a responsibility.

“We’re not here to sell products—we’re here to make beauty better,” Alexis says. “If we can inspire even one person to think differently, to question more, or to feel confident in their choices, then we’ve done our job.”

With their unwavering passion, dynamic partnership, and dedication to education, The Lipstick Lesbians have become a force to be reckoned with. And as they stand on the cusp of their next chapter, one thing is clear: the beauty industry will never be the same.
