Tell us something about you. Maybe your life, profession, habit, dream.

I enjoy travelling immensely, and I enjoy capturing the small moments of bliss on my travels. In my daily life I’m a photographer (www.dali.studio) and also a digital marketer (www.dali.marketing). Needless to say, I like to go out and shoot, work with a talented team to put a vision together and see them come to fruition after our hard work. My dream and goal in photography is to continue working with amazing people and build a world-renowned brand.

Could you share how you expand your vision of art, fashion?

I draw inspiration from various places, my physics and philosophy background from the origin of modern physics and philosophy, Oxford University, has definitely set me on the right path to fuse humanity and light together, to create images that show personality, emotion and meaning. I also learn from industry maestros, famous photographers, established models, as well as my peers, to inspire myself and create something unique and fascinating.

In your daily routine, what resources do you like to learn new things about art, fashion?

I look at various magazines, and also movies and TV shows. They don’t necessarily have to be fashion related. As long as they present a certain trend, or aesthetics, they help me create a vision and establish a theme and story I want to tell through my photography.

Is art, fashion important in your life? Why?

It is very important in my life. Art and fashion are a lifestyle. They determine the quality of life and are what make life meaningful. If you look at the very original form of art and fashion, they were recorded in the form of stone carvings, cave paintings, all the way through human history in oil paintings, sculptures, and now photography, displayed in galleries, museums, cultural centres. It’s not an exaggeration to say that art and fashion represent history, culture and what defines us as humanity.

If you have a superpower or talent, which one do you wish to have? Why?

Teleportation. It makes it possible to see everything I want to see, and doing photoshoots wherever I want to.

Do you have any problems with your profession? How did you solve it?

Creator’s block is always a problem for artists and creatives. When it happens, I usually take a small break, find a book to read or focus on something else. Soon after I’ll reach out to different people to come up with different ideas and create something better.

In modern society, lots of people want to be famous, influential. What do you think about it?

There’s nothing wrong with wanting to be famous and influential, but purely chasing fame and influence will set one on a wrong path. It’s been very helpful for me to think about what I can do first and how I can do it better. This is true throughout my fashion photography career. When I focus on the right things, publications and influence came naturally.

What is your favorite camera? Why?

I really like the Canon 5D Mark IV, or the entire Canon 5D series. These cameras are acquireable at an affordable price, and also do great images with beautiful colours, great low light ability, and a big range of lenses to choose from. However I have been very interested in the Canon EOS R series, since they seem to package the same capability in a much smaller and lighter body.

What is the most important thing for creating new work?

Trying to be different but also built on top of what I’ve already done. In all my new projects, I try to improve on something or try new ideas that I’ve never done before.

Do you have that feeling? When you have a look at the work you created 1 or 2 years ago, you still think it is in fashion.

I sometimes do. But most of the time when I look back on the things I’ve done, I see things I could’ve done better. I often carry these thoughts into my new shoots and try to be better than myself before.

Will you still create new works when you are old?

Yes, I think it’ll be my lifetime profession.
