Tell us something about you. Maybe your life, profession, habit, dream.

Andrew started out in the film industry and now applies his love of film to conceptual and narrative fashion photography. His dream is to live and work by the ocean, to drink in the sunshine and the sea, to write a book or two, to travel, to paint, and to spend lots of time with family and friends, loving and enjoying life!

What makes you choose this profession?

Andrew has always had a highly visual aesthetic, and fashion photography provides the perfect medium for him to express himself. Unlike his previous profession as a Producer and Director, he loves that in fashion, one can see results so quickly, and is able to work on a variety of projects in a relatively short amount of time. In film, one can spend 1-3 years on a single project, that may or may never come to fruition. With photography, the results are more immediate. Andrew loves the satisfactio of creating beautiful photos, but also enjoys immensely the journey; the experience of creating and collaborating with a great team in the pursuit of striking photos that resonate with viewers.

Could you share how you expand your vision of art, fashion?

Andrew gets inspiration from so many sources; magazines, music, art everyday life, people on the street, friends, family, but mostly from his imagination, which always seems to be on overdrive. Often he is awakened by his highly visual dreams, and even has to shout at his unconsciousness, that ‘it’s time to put the camera down and get some sleep!’

In your daily routine, what resources do you like to learn new things about art, fashion?

Fashion Magazines, Fashion Designers, Creative Directors, Painters, Instagram, other Photographers, old and new, Books… he could go on an on. There is never a shortage of ideas or enrichment!

Is art, fashion important in your life? Why?

Extremely! Andrew is most happy creating, and when he is not creating, something is always missing. He also tends to get grumpy ;).

If you have a superpower or talent, which one do you wish to have? Why?

To rid the world of hate, resentment and ignorance.

Do you have any problems with your profession? How did you solve it?

The aesthetic of the snapshot is very popular in social media and in many high-end magazines as well. As a result, craftsmanship and vision seem to be less valued than before. However, it is important for any artist, to not always look to the left or to the right to see what others are doing, but to shoot what is authentic and real to them. It took some time for Andrew to shut out the noise and not be bothered by it. After all, most good artists create for themselves, not for validation or popularity.

In modern society, lots of people want to be famous, influential. What do you think about it?

It’s annoying. Get over yourself. Create art and beauty, help people, lower the ladder for others, be nice. If that makes one famous, influential - excellent - but don’t strive for those things just to get attention and to make yourself feel better or to give yourself a sense of superiority. Being famous or influential has nothing to do with being a good person or not.

What will be the suggestions to new photographers?

Be authentic!
